ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS!
One thing that is really important to us when doing an engagement shoot with a couple is ensuring that their personalities shine through. Sure, plenty of that can be done with fun poses and picking the perfect settings, but another fun way to really share your personalities with the camera is to bring props! Here’s a couple of suggestions that we consider our favorites:
1. Books!
For our couples that are total book nerds, this is an obvious one. You can either each bring your own favorite book, or you can bring a book that you both really enjoy. And even for those couples that don’t particularly love to read, there are still some awesome books out there that can represent your relationship and provide a fun accent to the photos. Like this one Star Trek nerd who brought [Insert Kirk and Spock title here].
2. Food!
Okay, so you don’t necessarily have to bring the food, but sometimes we like to take couples to a place where they can grab a snack or dessert and incorporate that into their photos. Like this couple that went to an ice cream parlor with us (which was awesome), and then posed for a few photos with their delish desserts!
3. Chalk
Gabe and Cass had a really fun idea—We brought some chalk and made some sweet hearts on the ground to add to this shot. Adding something simple like this takes a photo from being just another engagement photo to something unique.
4. Symbols of love!
For this one, we had the couple hold our heart-shaped marquee light. It’s fun, cute, and adds a little flare to a normally ordinary shot. If you’ve been to any of our wedding shows, you recognize this heart from our booth!!
So when you’re prepping for your engagement or any other type of wedding photos, don’t be afraid to bring some fun props and accessories! We are always happy to incorporate them into the photos, and if you need some ideas, we are happy to provide those as well!!
