When we first met Ashley and Tommy, we could tell they were a fun-loving and great-hearted couple. So it only seemed natural that they would want to have their engagement photos taken in a place that reflected their awesome personalities—the National Harbor! Though it was a very cold day, Ashley and Tommy were all smiles and laughter as they goofed around between pictures. The glistening water and giant glass windows of the Gaylord Hotel were a beautiful backdrop to the first half of their engagement shoot.
As the sun began to sink toward the horizon, the couple dashed away to change out of their casual wear and into more formal attire. Ashley looked stunning in a pink lace dress and tan pumps, and Tommy looked quite dapper in his dark suit. We headed out to the pier, past the towering Christmas tree that was soon to be lit for all to see. Behind the couple was another brightly-lit attraction—the giant ferris wheel! Tommy admitted that his fear of heights kept him from wanting to actually go on the ride, but he was still okay with it being in a few of their photos. And what a great backdrop it was!
As Tommy and Ashley posed for their pictures, the sun began to set, painting the sky a beautiful combination of oranges, pinks, and purples. Against that amazing natural backdrop, the ferris wheel stood showing off its many brightly-colored and ever-changing lights. Tommy and Ashley would look great against any background, but this one was truly amazing and made for some one-of-a-kind engagement photos. All in all, it was a great afternoon, and we are so thrilled to be photographing and filming Tommy and Ashley again this June at their summer wedding at Foxchase Manor in Manassas, Virginia.
